Farfalle: one of the most versatile Italian pasta shapes

The Italian cuisine has hundreds of pasta shapes, each with its own character and use. One of the best known is farfalle, the pasta that in the Netherlands and Belgium is also called butterfly pasta.

The name farfalle literally means butterflies in Italian.

Divella Farfalle N°85 has the characteristic shape with two wings and a pleated centre. During cooking, this creates a pleasant contrast between the slightly firmer core and the softer ends.

This Italian pasta is particularly versatile and pairs excellently with pesto, tomato sauce, vegetables, and creamy sauces.

Divella – Italian pasta tradition from Puglia

The story of Divella begins in 1890 in Rutigliano, in the southern Italian region of Puglia.

From a traditional grain mill, the family business grew into a well-known Italian producer of pasta, flour, and other food products.

Today, Divella is known for a wide range of Italian pasta shapes, from spaghetti and penne to regional specialities.

With Divella Farfalle N°85, you choose a familiar Italian pasta shape that is suitable for everyday meals and festive dishes.

The unique shape of farfalle

Farfalle are formed by pinching the pasta dough in the middle.

This creates the recognisable wings.

The shape is not only decorative, but also provides a pleasant texture. Especially in dishes with vegetables, pesto and light sauces, this pasta shines.

How is Divella Farfalle made?

Divella Farfalle N°85 is part of the regular range of dry durum wheat pasta from Divella.

The manufacturer does not mention a bronze-drawn production method for this variant. The exact material of the mould used has not been confirmed.

Therefore, we do not present this pasta as bronze-drawn or as Teflon-drawn.

Which sauces go well with Divella Farfalle?

Farfalle al Pesto: with basil pesto, Parmigiano Reggiano and pine nuts.

Farfalle al Pomodoro: with Italian tomato sauce and fresh basil.

Farfalle alle Verdure: with courgette, bell pepper and cherry tomatoes.

Farfalle al Salmone: with salmon and a creamy sauce.

Insalata di Farfalle: a cold pasta salad with mozzarella, vegetables and extra virgin olive oil.

The secret of Nonna Kelvini

Do you want the mozzarella to become nice and soft without completely melting? Then only add it after you have removed the pan from the heat. This way, the fresh flavour is preserved and the dish gets that delightful Italian simplicity.
