Oliera in Vetro: Where Italian design and functionality come together

A premium olive oil such as our Ravece or Extra Vergine deserves an equally elegant showcase. This Oliera in Vetro (glass oil bottle) brings the authentic atmosphere of an Italian trattoria straight to your table. With its modest 250 ml capacity, this bottle is the perfect size for everyday use at the table, ensuring the oil always stays fresh and isn’t exposed to light and air for too long.

The design stands out for its simplicity. The flowing, organic lines of the glass sit comfortably in the hand and allow the golden-green hues of the olive oil to shimmer beautifully in the ambient light. The neck is designed to allow for smooth pouring without dripping.

The bottle is topped with an authentic, tapered natural cork stopper. This cork not only seals the bottle airtight to prevent your precious oil from oxidising, but also gives the whole thing that unmistakable, rustic, artisanal look. A functional design icon that looks just as good in the kitchen as it does on a chic dinner menu.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why is a 250 ml bottle better for olive oil than a larger carafe?

Olive oil is a perishable product that is sensitive to oxygen (oxidation). When you pour oil into a very large carafe that takes a long time to empty, a lot of air comes into contact with the oil each time, causing the quality and aroma to deteriorate rapidly. With a compact 250 ml capacity, your oil is guaranteed to stay ultra-fresh because it is used up quickly. It strikes the perfect balance between aesthetics and flavour retention.

What is the best way to clean the oil filter if I want to change the type of oil?

First, rinse the glass bottle with warm water to remove any coarse oil residue. Then add a drop of mild, eco-friendly washing-up liquid and some warm water, shake well, and use a bottle brush if necessary. The glass bottle can also be safely washed in the dishwasher. Make sure the bottle is 100% dry before pouring new oil into it; any water droplets at the bottom of the bottle can cloud the new oil and affect its quality. Simply wipe the cork with a slightly damp cloth and leave it to air dry.

The anatomy of the Oliera in Vetro:

This oliera (oil jug) has been designed in accordance with the principles of functional aesthetics within Mediterranean food culture. The use of inert sodium-calcium glass ensures that no chemical interaction or migration occurs between the container and the lipophilic acids in the olive oil, unlike with certain polymers (plastics). The tapered natural cork (Quercus suber) provides superior elastic compression, resulting in an airtight seal that minimises exposure to atmospheric oxygen ($O_2$) and thus slows down the formation of hydroperoxides (rancidity) in extra virgin olive oil.
