Barilla Emiliane Farfalline with Egg 275 g – Italian soup pasta like at Nonna's
In Italian cuisine, even the smallest pasta shapes have a special place.
Think of a large pot of fragrant broth slowly simmering on the stove, fresh vegetables from the garden, and a handful of small golden pasta butterflies.
With Barilla Emiliane Farfalline all'Uovo 275 g you bring a piece of this Italian culinary tradition into your home.
What are Farfalline?
The name farfalline literally means 'little butterflies'.
This pasta shape is a miniature version of the well-known farfalle. Due to their small size, farfalline are ideal for cooking directly in soup or broth.
In Italy, they belong to the family of pastina: small pasta shapes traditionally used for minestre, consommés, and light meals.
What makes the Emiliane Farfalline special?
The Emiliane line from Barilla is inspired by the Italian tradition of egg pasta.
These farfalline are made from durum wheat semolina and 19.36% fresh category A eggs.
The eggs give the pasta its characteristic golden colour, rich flavour, and delicate texture.
Delicious in Italian soup dishes
Pastina in brodo: a classic Italian broth with small egg pasta.
Minestrone: a hearty vegetable soup with beans, vegetables and pasta butterflies.
Zuppa di pollo: homemade chicken soup with carrot, celery and farfalline.
Creamy courgette soup: with a handful of pastina for extra texture.
Bean soup: a nutritious Italian meal soup with cannellini beans and rosemary.
Recipe: Italian chicken soup with Farfalline
Ingredients for 4 people
Preparation
Chop the carrots, celery and onion into small pieces.
Heat a little olive oil in a soup pot and sauté the vegetables for a few minutes.
Add the chicken stock and let the vegetables cook gently.
Add the farfalline and cook according to the package, usually about 6 minutes.
Add the cooked chicken meat and heat through briefly.
Finish with fresh parsley and freshly ground pepper.
Serve immediately, so the small pasta butterflies retain their pleasant texture.
Tip from Kelvini: cook the pasta separately if you want to reheat the soup later. This prevents the farfalline from absorbing too much stock.
